Community Access Staff

Overview In this position, you will work with a client with disabilities to provide support and training that enables them to build a network of natural supports. You will help the participant achieve a clearly defined and valued role within their community. Basic goals for training your participant include: connecting with others, improving independent functioning, self-advocacy, community participation, personal responsibility, and financial responsibility.

Position Requirements:

Must have at least (1) year of experience in the field of intellectual or developmental disabilities Previously qualified or been credentialed by the Department to provide Community Access services prior to the effective date of this administrative regulation or completed a department approved training program within one (1) year of application while providing community access services under the direct supervision of a Community Access Specialist.

Job Duties:

Encourage and support your clients in developing community relationships and natural supports Design programs to help client develop skills needed for social interactions, self-advocacy and independent living Help research and identify appropriate community spaces for client, whether they be social, educational, religious, civic, or volunteer-based Services occur outside of the participants' home, during the day Maintaining appropriate documentation and data
