Accredited as a Behavioral Health Home and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, we are leaders in integrating physical health, mental health, substance abuse treatment, and social services. We serve more than 15,000 members annually, with a fast-paced and innovative approach to care.
Position:
Peer Support Specialist (Peer Mentor/Patient Advocate) Have you experienced mental illness or substance use disorder and maintained recovery for at least one year? If so, you can use your personal journey to inspire others. As a Peer Support Specialist at Team Wellness Center, you will share your story to encourage and guide clients. You'll provide advocacy, education, and hope while modeling recovery and the benefits of treatment engagement.
Responsibilities include:
Promote a welcoming, recovery-oriented environment Provide information, education, and support to members in treatment Share your personal experience to help others remain engaged in recovery Model coping strategies and healthy lifestyle choices Assist members with treatment goals, paperwork, and group activities Support housing, vocational, and life skills activities Advocate for self-care, wellness, and the value of primary care, psychiatry, and social services Complete progress notes, documentation, and incident reports as required Collaborate with the clinical team to support individualized care plans (IPOS)
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED Certified Peer Support Specialist (or ability to complete training within 90 days - provided by TWC) At least one year in recovery from mental illness and/or substance use disorder Strong communication and advocacy skills Friendly and approachable demeanor Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (insured per Michigan regulations) Beliefs and values that support recovery and wellness
