Job Description

Neighborhood Resource Specialist - Part Time
The City of East Lansing is seeking to hire a part-time Neighborhood Resource Specialist. East Lansing, home to Michigan State University, is a dynamic community of nearly 49,000 people, operates under the Council-Manager form of government with a full-time and part-time regular staff of 331 employees. The Neighborhood Resource Specialist (NRS) is a part-time civilian position within the Community Services Unit of the East Lansing Police Department. The NRS position works in conjunction with Police Social Workers, other East Lansing Police Department employees and City staff to respond to community concerns and works to bring about solutions through collaboration and resource assignment. As time allows, the NRS also enforces parking regulations and select City Nuisance Violations, taking appropriate measures to correct the situation and issue citations accordingly.
The successful candidate provides conflict resolution, access to city services, guidance, and community outreach to those in the community in need of assistance. The NRS will work in coordination with Police Department Staff and will be instrumental in assistance to community members in need, by providing the appropriate services and resources. Must possess an unrestricted Michigan driver's license with an excellent driving record.
Qualifications
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency; No previous experience necessary. Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Social Work, or any other Human Service area preferred.
