School Year Hours:
Monday-Thursday 2:30pm-7:30pm & Friday's 2:30pm-6pm
Summer Hours:
Monday-Thursday 11am-5pm
Pay:

PRIMARY FUNCTION
Provide a safe and positive environment that aligns with the Formula for Impact plan and other key youth development strategies. Plan, implement, and supervise engaging art programming. Ensure members are safe, actively engaged, and supported while participating in creative projects and open art time in the Art Room of the Club.
KEY ROLES
(Essential Job Responsibilities): Create and facilitate a safe and positive environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes Plan, organize, and implement structured art projects and creative programming for members ages 6-18 Maintain active supervision of members in the Art Room at all times Establish and enforce safety rules and behavioral expectations specific to art materials and tools Develop creative, inclusive projects that encourage self-expression, creativity, and skill development Prepare materials in advance and ensure proper use, care, inventory, and storage of art supplies and equipment Monitor attendance and transitions in the Art Room Implement social and emotional learning strategies to ensure members feel safe and welcome Provide guidance to Club members and serve as a positive role model Display member artwork to promote pride, confidence, and a welcoming Club environment Work with the Club Director and program staff to coordinate art programming and special events Ensure a productive work environment by participating in evaluations annually to discuss knowledge and ability to demonstrate positive behavioral management and trauma informed care.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist in daily building clean up: overall facility housekeeping, program area, restrooms, kitchen and entry ways Participate in weekly Club staff meetings, monthly Organizational meetings and quarterly trainings which may include occasional weekends Participate in special programs and /or events as necessary for programming needs. This may include occasional weekends May be required to drive an organizational vehicle Other duties as assigned Handle and serve food
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:
Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff and volunteers, Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct and advise/counsel.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Experience working with youth ages 6-18 Knowledge of youth development Ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral problems in a supportive manner Ability to deal with the general public Ability to develop, plan and implement quality programs for youth Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment CPR and
FIRST AID
Certified or ability to be certified Valid State

All employees working directly with children at all Boys & Girls Club of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth locations may be required to work outdoors in various types of weather conditions.
