Job Description

PEER SUPPORT NEEDED
The 24th Circuit Treatment Court is seeking a person in recovery to provide peer support services to participants in the Adult & Family Treatment Court programs. This person must be willing to share their own lived experience navigating the legal system, access to services, and overall recovery journey. Support from those that have been through similar experiences helps promote the desire to take a proactive approach to personal change. The purpose of this position is to help those with substance use and/or mental health disorders:
  • Develop coping skills needed to enter into and maintain long term recovery
  • Reach accountability for their own actions and choices
  • Identify personal strengths and personal resources that promote positive change
  • Learn how to appropriately and respectfully advocate for themselves
  • Learn how to receive and provide support with their peers in the program Requirements for this position:
  • Certification preferred upon hire, will be required to remain in the position, program can guide through the process
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must self-identify as former consumer of behavioral health services related to substance use or co-occurring disorder
  • Must agree to maintain participant confidentiality
  • Must complete trainings on ethics, boundaries, peer services and treatment court standards
  • Previous treatment court participant a plus, but not required Duties to include, but may not be limited to:
  • Facilitate peer support groups with participants
  • Meet with participants individually to share your experience in recovery and help motivate change
  • Maintain accurate documentation of participant attendance and participation
  • Report any major concerns or recommendations to the treatment court team This is currently a part-time position, up to 10 hours per week at $19 per hour.
Could lead to full time as program expands. It is a contracted position, there are no benefits or withholdings; 1099 will be issued for tax purposes. Please email resume to jacynth.coleman@courts.mo.gov if interested.
