About Kind Heart Healthcare Solutions Kind Heart Healthcare Solutions is a Medicaid-enrolled behavioral health organization serving communities across the greater Charlotte region. Our Community Support Team (CST) program operates under NC Medicaid Clinical Coverage Policy 8A-6 and is expanding into Gaston County. We are looking for a compassionate, certified Peer Support Specialist who is ready to use their own recovery journey to inspire and support others. Position Overview As a Peer Support Specialist (PSS) on our CST team, you will draw on your lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery to provide recovery-oriented, strengths-based support to Medicaid beneficiaries in the community. Services are delivered in natural settings — homes, shelters, courts, schools, and other community environments — in accordance with NC Medicaid Policies 8A-6 and 8G. This is a part-time, W-2 position serving beneficiaries throughout Gaston County. Key Responsibilities Provide peer support services to CST beneficiaries using a recovery-oriented, strengths-based approach rooted in shared lived experience Help beneficiaries build natural supports, self-advocacy skills, and connections to community resources aligned with their Person-Centered Plan (PCP) Support beneficiaries in working toward personal recovery goals including community integration and independent living skills Deliver services in community settings as identified in each beneficiary's PCP (homes, shelters, courts, schools, etc.) Collaborate with the CST Team Lead, PMHNP-BC Authorizing Clinician, and other team members to coordinate and monitor services Complete timely, accurate service notes per NC Medicaid documentation standards Model recovery by sharing personal experience in a professional, boundaried manner consistent with CPSS core competencies Participate in team meetings, supervision, and required trainings Ensure services do not duplicate other concurrent Medicaid services per Policy 8G Minimum Qualifications - Required Active NC Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) credential — required at time of hire Lived experience with mental health conditions and/or substance use disorder (per Policy 8G, PSS staff may only serve beneficiaries with similar lived experience) Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with mental health or substance use disorders High School Diploma or GED Valid NC Driver's License and reliable transportation — this is a community-based role requiring travel throughout Gaston County Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening per Medicaid provider standards Preferred Prior experience in a CST or ACT program setting Familiarity with NC Medicaid Managed Care and LME-MCO systems Bilingual English/Spanish Experience with electronic health records or behavioral health documentation platforms What We Offer $18.00 - $23.00/hr commensurate with experience and certification Part-time W-2 employment with a flexible, community-based schedule Collaborative team environment with direct support from a PMHNP-BC and LCSW-A Meaningful, mission-driven work in a growing behavioral health program Opportunities for expanded hours as the program grows $100 Referral Bonus — earn $100 for every client you refer who enrolls in services and receives care for a minimum 30 days.
