Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Peer Support Specialist to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will serve as a compassionate guide and advocate for individuals navigating mental health, addiction recovery, and behavioral challenges. Your lived experience and empathetic approach will empower clients to achieve their recovery goals, foster resilience, and build confidence. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a key role in creating a supportive environment that promotes hope, recovery, and well-being for all. Responsibilities Provide peer-led support to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use challenges, utilizing active listening and motivational interviewing techniques. Assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans and connecting them with appropriate community resources. Offer crisis intervention and crisis management support during urgent situations, ensuring safety and stabilization. Share personal experiences to inspire hope and motivate clients toward positive change while maintaining professional boundaries. Document interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy standards. Collaborate with clinical staff, social workers, and behavioral health teams to coordinate care and support client progress. Mentor new peers or volunteers by sharing best practices, fostering a collaborative team environment, and promoting ongoing learning. Experience Lived experience with mental health conditions or substance use recovery is essential; previous peer support work is highly valued. Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention and crisis management within behavioral health settings. Knowledge of behavioral health principles, addiction counseling techniques, and social work practices. Experience with motivational interviewing to facilitate client engagement and goal setting. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes. Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse populations. Certification in behavioral health support or related fields is preferred but not required; ongoing training opportunities are available for growth. Pay:
$22.78 - $27.44 per hour
