Housing Navigator Company Background:
Community Action is a non-profit organization that provides critical services to low-income families in the areas of housing, homeless services, economic empowerment, family development, and early childhood care and education. Job Position Description:
Are you a dedicated advocate with a passion for housing justice? Community Action is seeking a Housing Navigator to join our team based out of the Beaverton Oregon Department of Human Services office. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for individuals and families experiencing housing instability, helping them move from crisis to a place they can call home. If you are a compassionate problem-solver who excels at building relationships and navigating complex systems, we want to hear from you.
Abbreviated Duties List:
Assist participants in navigating housing searches, completing applications, and successfully securing permanent housing units. Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and create individualized stabilization plans for a diverse caseload. Build and maintain strong relationships with local landlords and property managers to increase housing opportunities for our clients. Coordinate and administer rental assistance while ensuring strict compliance with program and funding requirements. Provide ongoing support, including mediating landlord-tenant issues and connecting participants to essential community resources. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records within HMIS and other required databases.
Abbreviated Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of social services experience, including maintaining accurate files and coordinating services with other agencies. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management; ability to track outcomes and meet reporting deadlines. Proven ability to manage multiple competing tasks and deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable with public speaking, and the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of participants. Demonstrated ability to establish trusting, professional relationships with clients and staff from diverse, marginalized, vulnerable, and/or low-income populations. Proven ability to establish healthy professional boundaries while maintaining a trauma-informed, person-centered approach. Requires reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and valid insurance coverage for a private vehicle.
What Will Make You Stand Out:
Bachelor's degree in Social Services or a related field. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (both oral and written) or another language reflecting the current Washington County population. Experience in social service programs serving low-income individuals in Washington County. How to
