This position is designated as a Union position. All new hires must start at the entry level rate for this role per the collective bargaining agreement/MOA with OPEIU, Local 6. Pay may advance within the salary band according to the CBA/MOU.Departmental Mission Statement:

This position requires travel to multiple sites across Region 5, including the following court locations: Boston Municipal Court (BMC): BMC Central, Brighton BMC, Charlestown BMC, Dorchester BMC, East Boston BMC, Roxbury BMC, South Boston BMC, and West Roxbury BMC. District Court (DC): Brookline District Court, Chelsea District Court, Dedham District Court, Quincy District Court, and Stoughton District Court.Position Summary:
Transports, supervises, and monitors probationers, parolees, and others subject to court ordered community service ("Participants") in the performance of community service. Incumbents ensure compliance with the rules set for the participant. Coordinators help reduce the likelihood that participants engage in future criminal conduct. Coordinators use Community Service projects as a platform to address participants needs for vocational training skill building and pro-social development.Supervision Received:
Works under the direction of a Department Head or their designee.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Transports, supervises, and monitors program participants in the performance of community service, and provides instruction to participants on project objectives, goals, and tasks. Records and tracks statistics of community service participants. Performs evaluations of participants on their compliance with behavioral standards, making record of anti-social behaviors. Engages with local and state government and community non-profits in the development of community service partnerships. De-escalates conflicts and redirect interactions between participants, members of the public, and others. When incidents arise in the field, responds to the event, notifies Statewide Supervisor, and prepares incident reports summarizing the facts. Develops community service work projects at various locations. Informs probation and parole officers of OCC rule violations and other compliance issues. Maintains up to date records and information on community service performed. Acts as liaison with persons and agencies within and outside the court. Monitor safety procedures in the operation of tools and equipment. Responds to participant medical issues and performs first aid as needed. Responsible for maintaining fleet vehicles, inventory of tools, and consumables such as medical supplies. Performs other duties as required.Job Competencies:

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency Two (2) year of related work experience Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for meeting minimum qualifications.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
Modern office equipment and technology, including basic computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel) Procedures and practices for supervising participants. Cognitive behavior and substance disorders.Skill in:
Crisis intervention and conflict resolution. Promoting pro-social participation and interaction. Leadership.Ability to:
Establish effective working relationships with others. Learn Departmental and court policies and procedures. Learn Court procedures related to community service. Organization and time management. Prepare clear and accurate reports. Maintain appropriate records. Maintain confidentiality of information. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Work independently and follow oral and written instructions. Become/Maintain CPR/AED/Bloodborne certified and learn other First Aid skills. Maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver's License, ability to drive and operate a 15-passenger vehicle, and travel to locations throughout the Commonwealth. Work flexible hours including weekends.Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not require supervision of other employees.Working Conditions:
Work is frequently performed in outdoor environments within the community (parks, cemeteries, beaches, housing authorities, food banks) and occasionally performed in office or similar indoor environment, including warehouses, shops, and file storage locations.Physical Demands:
Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.Official Title :
