Housing Specialist Carolina Community Group - 1.0 Charlotte, NC Job Details Temporary | Full-time $23 an hour 20 hours ago Qualifications Teamwork Records management Human Services Social Work Associate's degree Full Job Description Overview Carolina Community Group is seeking a compassionate, resourceful, and organized Housing Specialist to assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or barriers to obtaining safe and affordable housing. The Housing Specialist will coordinate housing placement activities, conduct eligibility screenings, process housing applications, advocate for clients, and develop partnerships with community organizations to expand housing opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess strong case management, communication, and problem-solving skills and be passionate about helping vulnerable populations achieve long-term housing stability and independence. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity with the potential for long-term employment based on performance and organizational needs. Responsibilities Conduct housing assessments and determine eligibility for housing programs and resources. Complete intake interviews and gather required documentation. Assess barriers to housing and identify appropriate housing solutions. Educate individuals and families on available housing programs and eligibility requirements. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to housing services. Assist individuals and families with securing permanent, transitional, supportive, and emergency housing options. Coordinate housing searches and assist clients in locating available units. Facilitate housing placements and monitor progress throughout the housing process. Support clients with landlord communications, lease reviews, and move-in coordination. Assist with housing stabilization efforts to reduce the risk of homelessness or eviction. Prepare and submit housing applications and supporting documentation. Track application status and maintain communication with housing providers. Ensure all required documents are submitted accurately and timely. Coordinate with internal staff and external partners to expedite housing placements. Maintain housing waitlists, referrals, and placement tracking systems. Advocate on behalf of individuals and families experiencing housing challenges. Assist clients in overcoming barriers related to income, credit, criminal background, disability accommodations, and other housing-related issues. Provide resource referrals and supportive services to promote housing stability. Support clients in accessing benefits, community resources, and financial assistance programs. Promote client self-sufficiency through education and resource navigation. Develop and maintain relationships with landlords, property managers, housing authorities, shelters, and community organizations. Participate in community meetings, housing coalitions, and collaborative initiatives. Identify new housing opportunities and resources for program participants. Collaborate with local agencies to expand housing access and improve service delivery. Represent the organization professionally within the community and with partner agencies. Ensure compliance with program guidelines, funding requirements, and organizational policies. Maintain confidential client records in accordance with privacy regulations. Prepare reports on housing outcomes, placements, and program performance. Assist with audits, monitoring activities, and data collection efforts. Track housing placement metrics and program outcomes. Minimum Qualifications Education Associate's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Public Administration, Housing Services, or related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in housing services, case management, social services, homelessness programs, or related field. Experience working with vulnerable populations preferred. Experience with housing navigation, housing placement, or rental assistance programs preferred.
