POSITION SUMMARY
The Housing Assistance Navigator connects eligible homebuyers and homeowners to housing assistance resources, such as down payment assistance and post-disaster repair and recovery programs. This role combines case management, outreach, and technical assistance to ensure eligible households can access and successfully apply for housing assistance programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in social work, public administration, urban planning, or related field.
  • 1-2 year experience working in a non-profit.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in case management, housing services, disaster recovery, or community outreach preferred. Knowledge of housing assistance programs, eligibility requirements, and documentation standards preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in community settings and provide mobile services. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client management systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Conduct outreach and education through community events, workshops, and partner networks to identify eligible homeowners. o Develop and maintain relationships with other nonprofit organizations whose clients can benefit from housing assistance programs. o Collaborate with other nonprofit organizations for outreach activities that include sharing flyers, media posts, connecting clients, sharing program information, etc. o Connect and partner with other public and nonprofit organizations to support housing assistance programs through eligibility screening, application assistance, and other functions. o Perform intake, eligibility screening, and needs assessments aligned with program requirements. o Assist clients in completing applications for disaster relief and home repair programs, including document collection and submission. o Help clients reconstruct or obtain required documentation (e.g., proof of ownership, repair receipts, insurance claims). o Provide one-on-one navigation support, including explaining program criteria, timelines, and next steps. o Deliver services in multiple formats (in-person, virtual, and mobile/off-site locations). o Maintain accurate client records in data systems and track outcomes in compliance with grant and program guidelines. o Coordinate referrals to internal programs (e.g., housing counseling, public benefits) and external partners. o Conduct follow-up with clients to ensure application completion and address barriers. o Support multilingual and culturally responsive service delivery.
PERIODIC FUNCTIONS
  • Collaborate with other Chinese Community Center programs and departments to expand programming when relevant.
  • Conduct outreach for housing, disaster relief and home repair program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Combination of office-based, remote, and fieldwork in community settings. Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed (TBD).

From $48,000.00 per year
