Overview Join our dedicated team as a Peer Support Specialist and become a vital part of empowering individuals on their journey toward mental health and wellness. In this role, you will provide compassionate peer-led support, crisis intervention, and behavioral health guidance to youth navigating everyday life and behavioral health concerns. Your lived experience combined with professional training will help foster hope, resilience, and recovery for youth seeking support. Responsibilities Offer empathetic peer support and mentorship to individuals experiencing life or behavioral health challenges. Conduct motivational interviewing to promote positive change and reinforce life goals. Assist clients in navigating everyday life, social work resources, and mental health counseling options. Document interactions accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with privacy standards. Collaborate with clinical teams to develop personalized support plans that align with clients' needs and recovery objectives. Provide education on coping strategies, relapse prevention, and community resources to foster independence and resilience. Experience Lived experience with mental health challenges or addiction recovery is highly valued and often required as part of the peer support role. Previous experience in crisis intervention or crisis management is preferred. Knowledge of behavioral health principles, including counseling techniques. Familiarity with social work practices and motivational interviewing methods enhances effectiveness in supporting clients. Strong mentoring skills combined with excellent communication abilities are essential for building trust and rapport with clients. Certification in crisis intervention or related fields is a plus but not mandatory; ongoing training opportunities are provided.
