Job Description

Western Tidewater Community Service Board welcomes you to join our team! At WTCSB our mission is to provide a coordinated system of quality recovery-oriented care in Mental Health, Intellectual Disability, and Substance Abuse Services to the citizens of the cities of Franklin and Suffolk and the counties of Isle of Wight and Southampton. We are seeking a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist for our Peer-Led Wellness Home. - OVERNIGHT SHIFT General Responsibilities for
Peer Recovery Specialist:
Provide lived experience with recovery from mental health and/or substance use challenges to support others navigating their own journeys. Function as a role model to peers Exhibit competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills, serve as a consumer advocate, and provide consumer information and peer support for consumers in outpatient and inpatient settings Offer trauma-informed, person-centered, and culturally competent peer support in both structured and flexible environments. Foster empowerment, mutuality, and self-determination in alignment with the core values of peer respites. Collaborate with individuals to co-create goals, coping strategies, and community connections based on the Individual Service Plan (ISP). Work within home-like, non-clinical settings such as the PLWS program, which emphasizes voluntary engagement, peer leadership, and community-based supports. Qualifications and Skills for
Peer Recovery Specialist:
Be a certified Peer Recovery Specialist Hold a valid driver's license with an acceptable DMV record Experience in using various computer software applications and/or Electronic Health Record (Preferred) Benefits for
