CASA & CASA IN ACTION SYNOPSIS
CASA's mission is to create a more just society by building power and improving the quality of life in working-class: Black, Latino/a/e, Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and Immigrant Communities. Our vision is rooted in the collective power of our community, our inclusive, permanent, member-led movement radically transforms communities and systems to ensure the needs, dreams, and aspirations of members are fully met as we strive for justice and full liberation at home and in solidarity with others across the world. CASA has a sister organization, CASA in Action, a separate, but related, nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Although CASA and CASA in Action share a common goal of supporting immigrants and low-income people in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Georgia, they are separate organizations with their own board of directors. A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations. This has no effect on salary or benefits.
DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS
CASA's Community and Economic Development Department responds to the needs of working class Latinos and other immigrants and their families, utilizing service provision models that promote community asset building and empowerment. This includes community education to prevent problems and build on community interest and assets. It also includes working to impact trends that negatively affect immigrant and low income communities. Program service areas include community economic development, financial literacy, workforce development, legal services, education and immigrant integration.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Liaison is the central point of entry for clients requesting CASA's services. The Community Liaison will provide quality referrals for clients during walk-in hours and through phone consultations, in addition to providing general administrative support for the CASA employees. The primary functions of the Community Liaison are to continually interact with the clients by directing the members' concerns and needs with the appropriate resource for feedback or resolution.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Be the first point of contact at CASA Woodbridge Welcome Center. Receive community members at the front desk or over the phone by greeting, welcoming, directing them appropriately. Complete intakes in accordance with CASA policies and procedures to identify community member's issues to subsequently process enrollment in CASA programming or provide service referral to partner organizations in the county. Assist community members with services such as filling out applications, apply for CASA membership, collect fees for services, interpreting documents, etc. Coordinate resource information being offered to the public in our center as well as service outreach strategy. Schedule appointments and conduct follow up to ensure issues were addressed. Maintain an online database with demographic data and create monthly, quarterly and annual reports. Assist the Services Manager in administrative work. Other duties assigned by the supervisor related to position.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
Bilingual Spanish-English. French is a plus. High School diploma or GED required, some college a plus. Receptionist, hotel concierge, experience are a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Ability to perform all of the duties outlined above. Deep commitment to social change and to growing CASA as a membership organization in which members have decision-making authority. Ability to maintain a database and high comfort level with basic computer programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel, ability to train others in basic use of computer programs, and a willingness to learn other needed computer programs. Strong interpersonal, communication, planning and organizational skills and problem resolving ability. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Passion in working with low-income children, and immigrant communities
COMPENSATION
$24.0385/hour
