Job Description

  • Job Overview:
  • We are seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide counseling and support to individuals (adult and adolescent) and their family members struggling with substance abuse disorders. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations to assess clients' needs and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Provide counseling and therapy sessions to address substance abuse and related issues
  • Collaborate with other professionals to coordinate client care and treatment goals
  • Assist in discharge planning and aftercare support for clients transitioning out of treatment programs
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Utilize medical terminology and behavioral health knowledge in client interactions
  • Implement utilization management strategies to optimize client service delivery
  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related field, preferred. Hold or willing to pursue certification as an ADC or similar
  • Relevant experience working in a clinic, community health, behavioral health or hospital setting
  • Strong understanding of substance abuse disorders and treatment modalities
  • Familiarity with discharge planning procedures and aftercare services
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality protocols
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client counseling
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Knowledge in related areas such as domestic violence, anger management, parenting, conflict resolution, suicide prevention, and experience working with youth would be beneficial.
