Primary Counselor / Substance Abuse

  • bed behavioral center located in the heart of Duarte; Ca.
located conveniently off the 210 freeway.
POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to provide general counseling, group therapy and casework services to assigned clients and their families.
This position reports to:
Program Manager, and Program Director. Substance Abuse Counselor desired certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Delegation of authority Authority is delegated to the individual in this position to: Prompt all clients for groups/activities, totaling all attendance weekly. Collect all data necessary to complete ABC forms and related documentation. Provide timely and accurate daily, weekly, monthly & quarterly progress reports for clients on caseload. Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings. Directly responsible for the overall care of about 10 clients assigned as delegated.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications / Experience Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field is strongly preferred. 2 years' experience working with the mentally ill and co-occurring population

Working Conditions May encounter frequent interruptions May be involved with residents, family, and government agencies May be requested to work beyond scheduled working hours at times May be subjected to odors, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoking or air contaminants May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses May be exposed to or handle hazardous chemicals Physical Requirements Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day Working throughout the nursing areas Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Lifting more weight up to 100 pounds requires assistance Ability to read fine print on tablet, progress notes and/or medical labels INDVAL 6/8/2026
