Part-time About Us:
Small 6-bed residential substance use disorder treatment program in Encino, CA seeking an AOD Counselor to provide counseling, group facilitation, treatment planning support, and clinical documentation for adult clients in a structured residential setting.
Position Summary:
The AOD Counselor will provide substance use disorder counseling services, facilitate recovery-focused groups, assist with treatment planning, complete documentation, and coordinate with program leadership to support client care and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
Facilitate psychoeducational, relapse prevention, recovery skills, and process groups Provide individual counseling and recovery planning support Assist with treatment plans, progress notes, discharge planning, and continuing care planning Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation Communicate client progress, risks, incidents, and concerns to the Program Director Follow program policies, DHCS requirements, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and ethical standards Participate in staff meetings, training, quality improvement, and chart review activities Support a professional, safe, recovery-oriented residential environment
Required Qualifications:
Current California AOD registration or certification through a DHCS-recognized certifying organization, or licensed professional acting within scope Experience providing SUD counseling services Ability to complete compliant clinical documentation Knowledge of relapse prevention, motivational interviewing, treatment planning, and recovery support Ability to pass required background/reference checks Professional, reliable, and appropriate for a small residential treatment setting
Preferred Qualifications:
CADC, CATC, SUDCC, LAADC, or equivalent certification Residential treatment experience Experience with ASAM criteria and DHCS documentation standards Experience with co-occurring mental health concerns Prior work in detox, residential, PHP, IOP, or outpatient SUD treatment
Schedule:
Part-time or full-time schedule available. Exact schedule to be discussed based on program needs and applicant availability. Some evening or weekend availability preferred.
