Position Overview:
Kings View is seeking a Lead Certified Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor to provide direct counseling services while serving as a clinical resource and mentor to counseling staff. This role supports program quality, clinical consistency, documentation compliance, and day-to-day counseling operations within a licensed substance use treatment program. The Lead Counselor collaborates closely with the Clinical Supervisor to support participant care, counseling workflows, and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Services & Counseling:
Provide individual and group counseling, case management, education, and referrals Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans Facilitate intake and program orientation activities Apply therapeutic interventions to support participant rehabilitation Conduct breathalyzer and/or saliva testing as required Prepare participant progress reports and maintain clinical documentation
Leadership & Program Support:
Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to counseling staff Promote consistency in counseling practices and documentation standards Support onboarding and informal training of new staff Assist with coordination of schedules, group coverage, and caseload flow Provide recommendations to Clinical Supervisor regarding participant progress and program needs
Compliance & Documentation:
Monitor participant files, attendance records, and required documentation Ensure compliance with Title
IX, HIPAA, 42 CFR
Part 2, and program standards Support participant fee collection and financial assessment processes Recommend participant status actions in accordance with program regulations Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement initiatives
What You'll Bring:
Required Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Behavioral/Social Sciences Active Alcohol and Drug Certification in good standing through a DHCS-recognized certifying agency Valid California Driver's License (Class C)
Required Experience:
Minimum three (3) years experience providing direct SUD counseling services Experience in a licensed or regulated treatment setting Knowledge of Title IX regulations and documentation standards
Required Skills:
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
Membership in CADTP encouraged
