Position Overview:
Kings View is seeking a Registered Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor to provide counseling, education, case management, and recovery support services for individuals participating in substance use treatment programs. This role supports both inpatient and outpatient services while working toward certification.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct participant intake and orientation activities Deliver individual and group counseling services Provide case management, education, and community outreach Support individualized treatment planning Coordinate referrals to appropriate services and resources Maintain participant documentation and progress notes Conduct breathalyzer and/or saliva testing as appropriate Ensure compliance with Title IX, HIPAA, and program policies Attend staff meetings and trainings
What You'll Bring:
Required Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Behavioral/Social Sciences or equivalent coursework Valid California Driver's License (Class C) Active Alcohol and Drug Registration through a DHCS-recognized agency
Required Experience:
Minimum 2,080 hours of related experience Knowledge of substance use treatment and recovery principles Familiarity with electronic health record systems
Required Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Ability to work collaboratively and independently
Preferred Qualifications:
Membership with CADTP encouraged
Professional Attributes:
Compassionate and recovery-focused Organized and adaptable Team-oriented and reliable Strong problem-solving abilities
