Certified Addictions Counselor Serenus Detox Jacksonville, FL Job Details Full-time $48,000 - $53,000 a year 20 hours ago Qualifications Crisis intervention Teamwork Driver's License Case management Organizational skills Crisis management Time management Full Job Description Position Summary The Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor provide substance use counseling services, client education, treatment support, and care coordination for individuals receiving services in the program. This position is responsible for conducting counseling interventions, participating in treatment planning, maintaining timely documentation, supporting relapse prevention and recovery-oriented services, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary treatment team to promote positive client outcomes. The Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor must uphold professional boundaries, confidentiality, ethical standards, and compliance with company policies, payer requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations. Essential Functions Conduct substance use screenings, psychosocial assessments, and other assigned clinical interviews within the scope of credentialing and program expectations. Provide individual, group, and family counseling services as assigned to support recovery, stabilization, and treatment engagement. Develop, review, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the client and multidisciplinary treatment team. Document counseling sessions, treatment plan updates, progress notes, discharge planning, and all other required services accurately and within required timeframes in the EMR. Monitor client progress, participation, and response to treatment interventions, and communicate significant concerns to appropriate clinical or medical staff promptly. Provide education to clients and families regarding substance use disorders, relapse prevention, coping skills, recovery resources, and program expectations. Assist clients in identifying barriers to recovery and support problem-solving related to treatment compliance, motivation, family dynamics, housing, employment, legal issues, and community resource needs. Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, case staffing, utilization review processes, discharge planning, and aftercare coordination. Coordinate referrals to internal and external services, including higher levels of care, mental health services, medical providers, peer support, recovery support programs, and community resources as appropriate. Maintain compliance with confidentiality standards, including
HIPAA, 42 CFR
Part 2, company policy, payer requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations. Respond appropriately to crisis situations, client decompensation, relapse concerns, and safety issues, and notify supervisory or clinical leadership as needed. Promote a therapeutic, professional, and recovery-oriented treatment environment for clients, families, visitors, and staff. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, required trainings, supervision, and competency development activities. Support program operations through collaboration, professional communication, and timely follow-up on assigned tasks. Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor. Qualifications Must hold a current Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) or Certified Addiction Professional (CAP) credential through the Florida Certification Board. High school diploma/GED for CAC plus 6,000 hours of work experience and 300 hours of FCB- approved training/supervision. CAP must hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field. Knowledge of substance use disorders, stages of change, relapse prevention, recovery support principles, and person-centered treatment approaches. Previous experience in addiction treatment or co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment preferred. Experience facilitating groups, completing clinical documentation, and working within a multidisciplinary treatment setting preferred. Excellent professional references. Skills & Competencies Proficient in Microsoft Office and EMR software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport with clients from various backgrounds. Strong organization and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively. Critical thinking skills and ethical decision-making abilities. Knowledge of community resources, referral processes, and discharge planning practices. Ability to maintain professional boundaries while providing compassionate, client-centered care. Other Requirements First Aid / CPR Certified or able to obtain certification within the required timeframe. Ability to work independently in facility and alternate site settings. May need to assume a flexible work schedule. Valid Driver's License; reliable, independent transportation. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. Completion of all continuing education and training as required by company requirements, regulatory agencies, and professional licensing board.Pay:
