Substance Abuse Counselor Duties:

• Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans for clients with substance abuse disorders
• Conduct evaluations/assessments to help determine client's clinical need.
• Facilitate substance use education classes.
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy
• Implement behavior management strategies to address client needs and promote positive outcomes
• Maintain contact and communication with community resources to aid in client referrals and continuity of care.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of substance abuse treatment principles and evidence-based practices
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field
