This counselor will provide individual and group counseling services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders while supporting clients throughout the recovery process. This position requires strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to build rapport with diverse populations. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping others in recovery, knowledgeable about addiction and recovery, and able to maintain accurate documentation in a fast-paced clinical environment. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including biopsychosocial assessments, Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scales, PHQ-9 assessments, and GAD-7 assessments. Provide individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy techniques (CBT) and motivational interviewing techniques to promote recovery and mental health stability. Facilitate family inclusion to promote expansion of support network. Manage crisis situations with effective crisis management techniques, including crisis intervention and behavior management strategies to ensure client safety. Maintain accurate documentation, records, and notes in compliance with program, local, and federal policy and regulations. Coordinate case management activities, including intake procedures, patient care planning, and follow-up assessments to monitor progress. Remain compliant with all HIPAA regulations. Skills Strong expertise in psychotherapy techniques, motivational interviewing, and counseling tailored to addiction recovery. Proficiency in crisis intervention, crisis management, and behavior management strategies to handle urgent situations effectively. Ability to complete all required documentation in timely manner to remain compliant. Excellent communication skills in social work settings with a focus on patient-centered care and case management excellence. Qualifications High school diploma or GED Counselor in Training (CIT), Registered Addiction Counselor (RAC), Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), LPC, LMSW, or LCSW Minimum of 1 year experience running group counseling (preferred) Minimum of 2 years of sobriety if in recovery
