Substance Use Treatment Reports To:

Clinical Director / Program Director Position Summary Responsible for delivering direct clinical services to individuals with substance use disorders in accordance with New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and ASAM criteria. Provides group and individual counseling, maintains compliant documentation, and supports treatment planning, engagement, and retention. Core Responsibilities Clinical Services Facilitate IOP and OP group therapy sessions (psychoeducation, relapse prevention, CBT-based groups) Conduct individual counseling sessions aligned with treatment plans Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments Develop, update, and implement individualized treatment plans Perform ongoing clinical evaluations and progress reviews Deliver crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary Documentation & Compliance Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in EHR Complete intake assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries Ensure all documentation meets Medicaid and DMHAS standards Support audit readiness (clinical, billing, and regulatory) Adhere to confidentiality standards under HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 Care Coordination Coordinate with internal team: psychiatrist, nurse, case management, peer services Communicate with referral sources (probation, hospitals, halfway houses, etc.) Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings Assist with discharge planning and aftercare linkage Client Engagement Build rapport and maintain therapeutic alliance Monitor attendance, participation, and compliance Address barriers to treatment (transportation, motivation, relapse triggers) Reinforce program structure and expectations Qualifications Required Active CADC in New Jersey Knowledge of ASAM criteria and levels of care Experience in SUD treatment (OP/IOP preferred) Strong documentation and time management skills Preferred Experience billing under Medicaid Familiarity with co-occurring disorders Experience in group facilitation

Work Schedule Typical:

Monday-Friday with evening IOP groups as needed Flexibility required based on census and programming Performance Metrics Group and individual session completion rates Documentation timeliness (24-48 hours standard) Client retention and engagement Audit compliance (zero major deficiencies) Productivity aligned with billable expectations Compensation Structure (Example Framework) Base hourly or salary Productivity incentives tied to billable services Bonus potential based on census and retention Compliance Notes Must operate strictly within CADC scope (no independent diagnosing) Supervision required if working toward LCADC All services must be medically necessary and properly documented to avoid fraud exposure under Medicaid billing rules Position Objective Maximize clinical throughput and retention while maintaining strict compliance. Balance group volume with documentation discipline. Reduce no-shows and increase length of stay without compromising medical necessity.

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
