Unity House is dedicated to making life better for our communities and the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program has a full-time Mental Health Counselor/Substance Abuse Specialist position waiting for you to apply!

Sing on bonus may apply to qualified candidatesLimited permit salary: $ 59,789.54Posted salary is for fully licensed candidates Key ResponsibilitiesWork as part of a multidisciplinary mobile ACT treatment team with a shared caseloadConduct assessments of mental health and/or substance use disorders, including co-occurring conditionsDemonstrate knowledge of principles and practices of harm reductionProvide ongoing mental health and substance use support in community-based settingsServe as the teams Substance Use Specialist, offering consultation and guidance on substance use and co-occurring disorder treatmentProvide training and education to team members on substance use treatment approaches and best practicesParticipate in team meetings, care coordination, and crisis response as part of the ACT modelEnsure adherence to OMH, Medicaid, and agency regulations, policies, and standards of careComplete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with program and regulatory requirementsDemonstrate professional behavior and contribute positively to team functioning and collaborationQualificationsMasters degree or higher in Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, or a related fieldLMSW or LCSW preferred, or NYS Limited Permit/License as a Mental Health CounselorMinimum of one year of experience and/or training in substance use treatment, with demonstrated knowledge and competencyStrong knowledge of motivational interviewing, stage-wise treatment, and harm reduction principlesValid and clean NYS drivers license Reliable transportation Ability to work both independently and as part of a teamBasic computer knowledge, including ability to complete electronic documentation
