Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Alcohol and Drug Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide expert counseling and support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders, guiding them through recovery and helping them build healthier lives. Your expertise in addiction counseling, behavioral therapy, and mental health assessment will empower clients to overcome challenges and achieve lasting change. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to evaluate clients' substance use history, mental health status, and treatment needs Develop personalized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral management techniques Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health support, and relapse prevention Implement crisis intervention strategies to support clients experiencing acute distress or emergencies Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical staff, and case managers to coordinate care plans Provide education on addiction medicine, mental health issues, and coping skills to clients and their families Requirements Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field; Master's degree preferred Valid certification or licensure as an addiction counselor or clinical counselor (e.g., CADC, LCSW) Proven experience in behavioral health settings with a focus on substance use disorder treatment Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and medical documentation standards Familiarity with crisis management techniques, home & community care practices, and hospital-based care environments Excellent communication skills with the ability to conduct diagnostic evaluations and patient assessments effectively Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism while demonstrating empathy and active listening skills Join us in transforming lives through compassionate care!
