Louisville, KY Job Details Contract $30 - $50 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Group therapy Individual therapy HIPAA Bachelor's degree Social Work Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Alcohol and Drug Counselor to join our behavioral health and waiver services team. In this vital role, you will provide addiction counseling, mental health support, crisis intervention, and recovery-focused services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders, including ABI and ABI-LTC waiver clients who may have brain injury-related needs, behavioral challenges, or co-occurring mental health concerns. You will guide clients through the recovery process, develop personalized treatment and support plans, and facilitate individual and group counseling sessions. This role requires compassion, professionalism, strong documentation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with waiver teams, healthcare providers, case managers, families, and community resources. Responsibilities Conduct thorough client assessments, intake interviews, and diagnostic evaluations to determine individual treatment needs, including needs related to substance use, mental health, behavioral health, and ABI-related supports. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, behavioral therapy, and person-centered planning. Provide individual and group counseling focused on addiction recovery, mental health management, emotional regulation, coping skills, relapse prevention, and independent living support. Provide crisis intervention and crisis management support to clients experiencing emotional distress, behavioral escalation, relapse concerns, suicidal ideation, or other urgent needs. Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, service notes, medical records, and required reports in compliance with HIPAA, agency policy, and applicable waiver regulations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including case managers, social workers, healthcare providers, behavioral specialists, residential staff, day program staff, family members, guardians, and community partners. Support ABI clients by understanding the impact of brain injury on behavior, decision-making, communication, memory, emotional regulation, and daily functioning. Assist with coordination of care and referrals for additional behavioral health, medical, psychiatric, substance use, housing, or community-based services as needed. Stay current with best practices in addiction counseling, behavioral health, trauma-informed care, brain injury supports, and community-based waiver services. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, or a related field preferred. Licensure or certification as an addiction counselor is preferred. Experience in addiction counseling, behavioral health, mental health, hospital, residential, or home and community-based services is highly valued. Experience working with ABI, ABI-LTC, SCL, iRISE, or other waiver populations is preferred. Strong knowledge of motivational interviewing, CBT, relapse prevention, trauma-informed care, behavior management, and crisis intervention. Ability to complete assessments, develop treatment goals, and document services accurately and timely. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and client confidentiality requirements. Strong communication, teamwork, and case coordination skills. Ability to work with clients who may have complex needs, including PTSD, substance use disorders, mental health diagnoses, behavioral challenges, or brain injury-related limitations.Pay:
