Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Counselor and Certified Alcohol Counselor to join our multidisciplinary behavioral health team. The ideal candidate is dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing mental health and substance use challenges through evidence-based therapeutic care and recovery-focused interventions. This role involves providing individual, group, and family counseling services, conducting clinical assessments, developing treatment plans, and supporting clients through crisis situations, recovery, and long-term wellness. The Counselor will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive, and client-centered environment that promotes healing, resilience, and sustainable recovery outcomes. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to evaluate client needs, mental health conditions, substance use history, and treatment goals. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans for clients experiencing mental health and substance use disorders. Provide evidence-based counseling and psychotherapy utilizing modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), trauma-informed care, and relapse prevention strategies. Deliver alcohol and substance abuse counseling services, including recovery planning, psychoeducation, and relapse prevention support. Facilitate group therapy sessions focused on addiction recovery, behavioral health, emotional regulation, peer support, and life skills development. Provide family counseling to strengthen communication, rebuild support systems, and improve family functioning throughout treatment and recovery. Offer counseling support for children and adolescents when appropriate within a family-centered care model. Respond effectively to crisis situations using de-escalation and intervention techniques for clients experiencing psychological distress, relapse, or behavioral emergencies. Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, case managers, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other records in compliance with HIPAA and agency standards. Monitor client progress and modify treatment approaches as needed to support positive clinical outcomes. Stay current on best practices in behavioral health, addiction treatment, and counseling methodologies through continuing education and professional development. Qualifications Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field required. Certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC, LADC, ADT, or equivalent) required or strongly preferred. Current state licensure such as LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent preferred or required based on state regulations. Experience providing mental health counseling, addiction treatment, and crisis intervention services. Strong knowledge of group therapy facilitation, family systems, and recovery-oriented care. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR), clinical documentation, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology preferred. Knowledge of dual diagnosis treatment, PTSD, trauma-informed care, and co-occurring disorders is highly desirable. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations while demonstrating empathy, professionalism, cultural awareness, and ethical practice standards. $30.00 - $70.00 per hour
