Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals battling addiction and behavioral health challenges. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive clinical counseling, conduct diagnostic evaluations, and develop personalized treatment plans to support recovery and mental well-being. Your expertise will help guide patients through their journey toward healthier, substance-free lives while ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and confidentiality regulations. Responsibilities Conduct intake assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and patient assessments to determine treatment needs and develop tailored care plans. Deliver individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis. Provide crisis intervention and crisis management to support patients experiencing acute mental health or substance use crises. Facilitate family counseling sessions to promote holistic recovery and strengthen support systems. Maintain accurate medical documentation, medical records, and detailed notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical terminology standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on case management, treatment planning, and discharge planning to ensure continuity of care. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and continuing education to maintain certification and stay updated on best practices. Valid certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor with active licensure or registration as required by state or federal regulations. Proven experience in addiction counseling, clinical counseling, mental health counseling, or behavioral health settings. Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, crisis intervention, and behavior management techniques. Experience working in home & community care environments or hospital settings is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively through intake processes and diagnostic evaluation. Ability to manage crisis situations calmly while demonstrating strong crisis management skills. Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 25.0 - 40.0 per week
