Group Facilitator for Substance Abuse Treatment Step Above Counseling Services LLC Richmond, VA Job Details Part-time | Full-time $20 - $22 an hour 4 hours ago Qualifications CPR Certification Group therapy First aid High school diploma or GED Bachelor's degree Substance abuse Human Services Working with individuals with substance use disorders Full Job Description Step Above is seeking a dedicated and experienced Group Facilitator to oversee and facilitate services within our ASAM Level 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and ASAM Level 2.5 Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for substance use treatment. This role is responsible for leading psychoeducational and recovery-focused groups, supporting daily program operations, monitoring client engagement, and helping ensure program compliance and structure. The ideal candidate is passionate about recovery services, organized, dependable, and capable of maintaining a therapeutic and professional environment for clients receiving substance use treatment. Responsibilities Facilitate daily group sessions for clients enrolled in 2.1 and 2.5 substance use treatment programs Lead psychoeducational, relapse prevention, coping skills, recovery support, and life skills groups Oversee daily group schedules and ensure programming runs smoothly and on time Monitor client attendance, participation, and behavioral concerns Complete attendance logs, group documentation, and required program paperwork accurately and on time Coordinate with counselors, case managers, assessors, and clinical staff regarding client progress and treatment needs Assist with client orientation and program expectations Support clients with referrals, resources, and linkage to appropriate services when needed Ensure program compliance with company policies, DMAS requirements, and clinical standards Report incidents, crises, or concerns to supervisors promptly Help maintain a safe, respectful, and recovery-oriented environment Assist with audits, chart organization, and ensuring required documentation is completed properly Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field preferred Experience working in substance use treatment, behavioral health, or mental health services preferred Experience facilitating groups strongly preferred Knowledge of ASAM levels of care, recovery principles, and trauma-informed care preferred Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills Ability to manage group dynamics and maintain professionalism in high-stress situations CPR/First Aid certification preferred Preferred Experience Experience in Intensive Outpatient (2.1) or Partial Hospitalization (2.5) programs Knowledge of DMAS documentation and compliance standards Experience working with individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders Familiarity with electronic health records and clinical documentation systems Work Environment This role involves direct client interaction in a fast-paced behavioral health setting. The Group Facilitator will play an important role in maintaining daily program structure, client accountability, and therapeutic engagement within the substance use programs.
