The Child and Family Services team is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Counselor with extensive experience providing individual and group counseling services to children, adolescents, and families. Who are we? The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) is a sovereign tribe located in the metropolitan Phoenix area. Bounded by the cities of Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, and Fountain Hills, the Community serves over 9,000 tribal members, and all people conduct business over approximately 96 square miles of residential, agricultural, and commercial lands, as a full-service government entity. What does the job look like? Responsibilities include completing assessments, developing treatment plans, maintaining accurate documentation, participating in crisis intervention, and engaging in community-based outreach as needed. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Native children and families while working in a collaborative, mission driven environment that values cultural respect and community wellness. What do you have? The ideal candidate will be skilled in trauma informed, culturally responsive care and able to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to support emotional wellness and family stability. The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of how to work within a tribal community, including knowledge of SRPMIC culture, values, and community needs. What do you need? A Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or closely related area, AND two (2) years of direct counseling experience. One (1) year of full-time supervisory experience in a major behavioral health services related program
Licensures:
Possesses or within 6 months of hire, obtained at least one (1) of the following licenses to practice in
Arizona:
Associate Counselor (LAC) or Professional Counselor (LPC); Associate Marriage and Family Counselor (LAMFT) or Marriage and Family Counselor; Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or; Associate Substance Abuse Counselor (LASAC) or Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC). All eligible employees are automatically enrolled in a fully paid basic term life insurance policy with a matching accidental death benefit. Retirement Plans SRPMIC supports your long-term financial goals through multiple retirement plan options: 401(k) and
Roth Plans :
Eligible employees can participate in both pre-tax and post-tax retirement savings plans. SRPMIC contributes 5% of your compensation to the pre-tax 401(k) and matches up to 3% of your salary deferral contributions. Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS): Available to eligible certified police officers and firefighters. Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS): Available to Salt River School educators. Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA): A retiree HRA with Health Equity, which is a tax-advantaged employer-funded account that retired employees (Age 55+) can use for qualified medical expenses, including some premiums, and out-of-pocket expenses such as copays and deductibles.
Paid Leave & Holidays Annual & Sick Leave:
Employees accrue separate balances for sick and annual leave each pay period. Sick leave may be used for personal or family illness and medical appointments, while annual leave covers vacation or personal time.
