JOB SUMMARY
HealthRIGHT 360, a family of programs, is located across 13 different counties in California. Health
RIGHT 360
provides an array of medical and behavioral health services to some of the most marginalized populations, ranging from primary care, mental health services, detox, substance use disorder treatment in both residential and outpatient settings, and transitional services for the criminal justice population. This Women's HOPE residential program offers specialized care to the underserved female population of San Francisco, including low-income African American and Latina women and their families/children, with a special focus on pregnant and parenting women with co-occurring substance use and psychiatric disorders. The program is gender-responsive and trauma informed, addressing substance use, trauma, mental illness, health and wellness, family reunification, parenting education, employability, homelessness, and sober living skills. The primary responsibility of the Parenting Counselor is to teach parenting techniques after monitoring interactions between mother and child. The individual will provide one to one counseling and teach parenting classes. This person will be responsible for creating and implementing 2-hour long activities for children up to 11 years old to be delivered in the Parenting Center and will provide infant care. The Parenting Counselor will supervise mother and child during CPS visits and document parenting strategies observed or areas of concern. This person will carry a caseload of women with reunification needs and will collaborate with social workers, therapists and teachers related to reunification.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Treatment Planning Responsibilities:
Evaluates client parenting needs as well as child needs and develops treatment plan that coordinates with Agency and community resources. Works with team to update plan and, finally, determine client readiness to move through treatment phases.
Caseload Responsibilities:
Responsible for caseload of children and their mothers. Holds individual and group counseling sessions. Assists women in implementing parenting strategies. Supervises family visits and is liaison between the family and external stakeholders.
Treatment Setting Responsibilities:
Participates in recreational activities with clients. Facilitates children's meetings and specialized groups. Assist mothers in taking children to appointments and community activities. Refers children for counseling. Teaches effective parenting through consistent limit setting and behavior modification techniques Manages behavior problems as they occur. Demonstrates and teaches parenting techniques to resident parents.
Administration and Compliance Responsibilities:
In accordance with guidelines established by Health
RIGHT 360
to satisfy internal and external administrative demands, and those of evaluating agencies, maintains accurate records on all clients. Ensures action on items in logs daily and completes incident reports. And perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Certification, and Experience High School diploma or equivalent. 1 year or more experience working in a childcare environment preferred. First Aid Certified within 30 days of employment. CPR Certified within 30 days of employment. A valid California driver's license. Experience working in a residential setting preferred. Experience working with children with emotional disturbances preferred. Registration with Drug and Alcohol Certification recognized in California preferred. Bachelor's degree in early childhood development, Psychology, Counseling, or relevant field, or 5 years related experience preferred. Knowledge Knowledge of gender-responsive, trauma informed, and co-occurring treatment. Knowledge of Clinical documentation (treatment plans, progress notes, etc.). We will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. Must complete a background check and livescan.
