Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Youth Counselor is responsible for the safety and positive environment of the children at Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club. He/she will continually strive to enhance their experience and deliver an atmosphere that is consistent with the Club's mission, vision and core values by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures all areas are set up properly and timely and broken down each day. Responsible for assisting the program staff during activities Assists with all special events such as (but not limited to) Brunch with Santa, Easter Bunny Bash, Halloween, Movie Night, etc… Knows the location of all children while signed into any Kids Club activity or event and maintains all sign in/out sheets. Promotes a positive, healthy and safe environment for the Royal Palm children. Creatively and effectively comes up with new ideas for the Kids' Club. Participates in all camp activities (golf, tennis, fishing, field games, etc) Follows the Club's employee dress code policy. Counselor's uniform includes khaki pants or shorts (fingertip length), Club provided polo or t-shirt and Club provided name tag, worn on the right hand side of the shirt. If an employee has a visible tattoo, it must be covered.
Education / Experience
Working toward or has received a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) Minimum 1 year related experience in a camp setting Qualifications CPR/AED Certification Strong leadership and organizational skills Works well under pressure and time constraints Excellent communication skills Able to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays Physical Requirements (The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.) Must be able to lift, push, pull and move up to 25 lbs. Frequent reaching, bending, turning, climbing, squatting, stooping and stretching Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods Normal vision and hearing ranges required Able to work in extreme outside conditions for an extended period of time 03/2017
