This position provides support and supervision of our youth throughout the course of all daily program activities, including educational lessons, group sessions, fitness activities, and social activities/outings. The schedule for this positions will typically between 2pm-12am but may vary . Residential counselors are also required to attend mandatory meetings weekly on Mondays 9:00am-10:30am and monthly on Wednesdays 9:00a-11:00am.
Responsibilities include:
Maintaining standards of orderliness and cleanliness according to state inspection criteria, UMYH standards, and state law.
Assist residents individually by:
Serving as a role model. Managing crisis situations, as well as medical emergencies. Using individualized strategies identified in the clinical staffing. Providing guidance and counseling. Providing positive feedback. Maintaining healthy boundaries with residents. Implementing program specific treatment.
Accurately complete all required documentation:
Accurately recording all medications administered. Maintaining complete and accurate daily records including shift notes and bed checks. Providing information for the development of treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge reports. Follow the daily schedule and continuously supervise, monitor, and participate in the daily activities of the residents, including: Wake-up time Meals and Snacks Chores Recreation School attendance Administer medications Transportation In-room time (including completing 15-minute bed checks) Groups (Group Building Activities, DBT Groups, Gardening Group, etc.) Helping the youth achieve their treatment goals Teaching appropriate behavior Teaching valuable social and life skills Maintaining training hours and certifications as required by
DCS Qualifications Required:
Must be at least 21 years of age High School Diploma or GED is required . Valid driver's license with clean driving record. Must be able to pass an extensive background check, including a DCS registry check and fingerprints Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical /TB test and drug test
Beneficial:
