$1,000 Sign-On Bonus for Child Care Counselors! St. Ann's Home & School, in Methuen, MA, is a leader in special education and residential programming, offering private day programs, child and adolescent residential services, along with a broad range of outpatient services. We are currently seeking child care counselors for our residential program. We are looking for solid individuals who possess the ability to work effectively, collaboratively and respectfully with individuals, care providers, family and community members. Qualifications also include a bachelor's or associate's degree preferred, high school degree with experience may be considered; effective oral and written communication skills; and flexibility to work varying hours to meet the needs of our residents. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license. Child Care Counselors at St. Ann's Home are among the most important members of our treatment team, providing day to day support and positive role modeling for emotionally troubled children or adolescents while maintain a nurturing and safe environment. Ann's Home Child care counselors should be able to react quickly, drive a motor vehicle, participate in activities, sports and recreation. Child care counselors should be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds, reach, push and pull, and climb stairs. This position is based on a 48 hour work week. Child care counselors are expected to work extended shifts which may be up to 24 hours or occasionally may be longer. Position requires extended periods of awake time. Child care counselors need to have good judgment skills, be able to work in a crisis situation, be capable of independent thinking, and be able to physically restrain youth in an emergency to ensure everyone's safety is maintained. Staff are trained in current best practice techniques to safely respond to occasional aggressive, self-injurious or unsafe behaviors. The mission of St. Ann's Home & School is to provide a continuum of assessment, treatment, educational, and community-based services for children, adolescents, and young adults who present with a variety of mental health, emotional, and educational challenges. We seek to provide state-of-the-art programming and services in collaboration with these clients, their families, and other community and state agencies to help them manage their disabilities through our residential, day school, and community outreach programs with the goal of supporting the child in the least restrictive setting.
