mentors across the following locations: We are specifically looking for individuals with availability Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you are looking for a weekend or part time position, this is a great opportunity for you. Central Maryland Baltimore County Baltimore City Anne Arundel Howard County Hartford County Montgomery County Prince Georges County Position Overview The Contractual Mentor (CM) provides direct, individualized support to participants enrolled in the Alternative Placement for Youth Program (APY). Mentors work one-on-one with youth and young adults to promote personal growth, life skills development, and positive behavioral outcomes to become independent adults. This is a flexible, contract-based role ideal for individuals seeking part-time or supplemental income while making a meaningful impact. Participants may present a range of needs, including behavioral challenges, developmental differences (including youth on the autism spectrum and some experience incontinence), and varying levels of independence.
Responsibilities :
Collaborate with participants to implement individualized goals, plans, and strategies that support personal development and improved functioning. Provide transportation for participants as needed, Facilitate learning opportunities that enhance social skills, decision-making, and overall life competency Support participants in building life skills necessary for successful transition into adulthood Conduct structured and hands-on activities, including mentoring sessions, community exposure, and skill-building exercises Provide guidance and support for participants with varying behavioral and developmental needs Maintain consistent documentation of all participant interactions using the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system Attend required monthly supervision meetings and organizational trainings Participate in professional development opportunities Collaborate with community partners to ensure appropriate and effective service delivery Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth and/or adults in one or more of the following areas: Behavioral health Child welfare system Juvenile justice or criminal justice system Developmental or intellectual disabilities (including autism spectrum) Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record Ability to pass background check (locations will be provided based on region) Must be 21 years of age or older
Skills and Competencies:
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills Ability to make sound, timely decisions Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to adapt to diverse participant needs and behaviors Creative and innovative approach to mentoring ("thinking outside the box") Patience, empathy, and consistency when working with youth and families
Working Schedule:
Hours vary depending on client needs, availability, and program requirements. Ability to pick up shifts and create your own schedule for the week. Additional Information Multiple positions available across Maryland Participant age ranges and needs will vary by assignment This is a contractual position, ideal for professionals seeking part-time or supplemental work
