Job Description
Kennebec Behavioral Health , established in 1960 to provide comprehensive behavioral health services, named one of the Best Places to Work in Maine for 5 consecutive years and recently became a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) , is seeking a compassionate, motivated and energetic Youth Peer Support Partner to join our team supporting youth and families engaged in high-fidelity wraparound and behavioral health home services. The job will be headquartered in our Skowhegan Clinic. As a Youth Peer Support Partner, you will serve as a relatable mentor and ally to young people, using your own lived experience to build authentic, trust-based connections grounded in mutual respect and shared understanding. Guided by the Peer Connect model, this role focuses on empowering youth to identify their strengths, express their voice, and take an active role in their own goals and decision-making. Through active listening, validation, and strengths-based communication, the Youth Peer Support Partner helps youth navigate systems, build confidence, and develop self-advocacy skills. They collaborate with wraparound teams and other professionals to ensure youth perspectives are heard and valued, while maintaining appropriate boundaries, confidentiality, and a supportive, non-judgmental approach. The selected candidate will receive training in the Peer Connect model of youth peer support, if not already certified, which is an evidence-informed approach focused on building strong, collaborative relationships and promoting youth voice and choice.
Qualifications:
Lived experience as a youth with behavioral health, emotional, or system involvement challenges Be between 18-26 years old High school diploma or equivalent Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively within a team-based model Commitment to strengths-based, family-driven, and youth-guided principles Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally as neededTraining & Professional Development:
