Job Description

Responsibilities of the
Youth Mentor Position:
Maintain youth data in MO-RAP database Perform an initial assessment of the needs and goals of the youth (ages 15 to 24 years old) and develop a plan to meet those needs through educational, vocational, and social activities. Provide case management that includes documenting services provided and the progress of each youth toward meeting the youth's needs and goals. Enter program enrollments, assessments, barriers, goals, referrals and services in MO-RAP. Recruit, train and support mentors Key topics for mentor training: how to support refugee youth how to participate in tutoring as needed mentoring youth on continuing education, trade school, or employment opportunities. Utilize an intake form with youth and mentors to facilitate pairing youth with an appropriate mentor Create assessments and report sheets to give to youth mentors and mentees in order to track interactions and progress as needed Check in with each volunteer at least once per month to discuss mentoring progress Additional support for youth Create / encourage group social opportunities for youth. Build relationships with the families of youth mentees to create trust and open communication with parents about how their child is progressing Monitor for any mental health issues and report to their case manager Meet with each mentee in the program at least once quarterly to discuss their view of their own progress and their relationship with their mentor. Help youth with career development including skill building, resume drafting, worker's rights, and training opportunities. Support youth in developing health and financial literacy. Bring:
Required Qualifications Ability to relate to youth aged 15-24 years old. Ability to work with a variety of computer programs and databases Good organization and leadership skills Good communication skills, particularly with English Language Learners Available at least 2 evenings per week Ability to adapt to unexpected changes Preferred qualifications: College Degree Preferred major or minor in Intercultural Studies or Counseling Prior relevant job experience of program or team leader with youth Reports to:
Resettlement Director Compensation:
This is a full-time W2 position. All appropriate Federal and State taxes will be withheld per IRS W-4 and MO W-4. The employer portion of SSI and Medicare taxes will be paid by RAISE.
Pay:
$22 per hour
Hours:
30-40 hours per week average Daytime office hours at the RAISE office are expected with some flexibility for evenings to support youth mentoring and wellness groups Payment - monthly. No later than the 10th of the following month if the timesheet is submitted prior to that date. If the timesheet is submitted on or after the 10th, payment will be made on Friday for time sheets turned in by Wednesday. Gas Expense Reimbursement according to RAISE policy. RAISE offers 12 paid holidays a year. We do not offer any paid vacation time, health insurance or other benefits at this time.
