Job Description

Founded in 1889 as an orphanage for abandoned and wayward children, today St. Mary's Home for Boys offers residential and day treatment services to at-risk youth between the ages of 13 and 17 who have emotional and behavioral challenges. The individualized program provides each client with a structured regimen to ensure a successful transition to public school, the community and an appropriate living environment. Do:
  • Supervise emotionally and behaviorally challenged adolescent boys.
  • Function as a counselor in a cognitive/behavioral/relationship setting.
  • Participate in planning and directing activities to meet living and treatment needs.
  • Implement Individual Service Plans via treatment strategies (individual & group).
  • Recognize individual differences in clients and adjust strategies and interventions accordingly.
  • Participate with the cottage team in implementing and monitoring special programs
  • Document via logs and reports.
  • Serve as a primary counselor for assigned residents.
  • Transport clients to special community-sponsored events (i.
e., Moda Center Blazer games, Monster Truck Jam, OMSI, Oregon Zoo, Theater presentations, etc.)
What You Need:
BA/BS OR 1
  • 2 years of experience preferred
  • BA/BS degree required (if no experience working with youth). Preferably in Psychology, Sociology, Administration of Justice or other Behavioral Science field.
  • 2 years previous experience (paid or volunteer) in a residential treatment facility or similar setting required (if no BA/BS degree).
Additional Information:
  • Starting rate: Minimum of $25.00
  • $26.25 per hour. Based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
  • Primary shift: 2:45pm
  • 10:45pm, including weekends. Two consistent/consecutive days off during the week.
  • Other shifts assigned with seniority and based on availability or need could include 6:45 am
  • 2:45 pm, including weekends. Two consistent/consecutive days off during the week.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record required.
