Job Description

Overview The Youth Advocate plays a crucial role in supporting and empowering young individuals facing various challenges. This position involves working closely with children and adolescents to provide guidance, mentorship, and resources that promote their well-being and personal development. The Youth Advocate will engage with youth in various settings, helping them navigate through difficult situations while fostering a positive environment for growth. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one mentoring to youth, helping them set and achieve personal goals. Educate young individuals on important life skills, including conflict management and decision-making. Facilitate group sessions or workshops focused on personal development, resilience, life skills and coping strategies. Collaborate with families, schools, and community organizations to create a supportive network for youth. Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress for each individual case while ensuring confidentiality. Advocate for the needs of youth within the community, promoting awareness of their challenges and rights. Requirements Previous experience working with children or adolescents is essential. Strong conflict management skills to effectively address disputes or challenging behaviors among youth. Background in social work or related fields is preferred Excellent communication skills to educate and engage effectively with young individuals and their families. Ability to mentor youth by providing guidance, support, and encouragement in their personal journeys. A compassionate approach with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young people.
