Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

We are committed to ensuring every young person has a positive mentor in their lives to help them reach their full potential. The primary function for this position is to ensure youth are safe and are in healthy, positive relationships with their mentors. We are looking for someone that is a go-getter, personable, and a think-on-your-feet kind of person to join our growing staff.

The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. Proven excellent oral and written communication skills. Superb organizational and time management skills. The ability to work independently by exercising good judgement, decision-making, and problem- solving skills as well as the ability to translate strategy into action. The ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly and to adapt communication style to fit audience. The ability to be persistent. Experience working with youth and an understanding of youth development. Success in meeting deadlines and commitments as well as the ability to see tasks through with accuracy.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. Assessment and relationship development experience with child and adult populations; understanding of youth development and family dynamics. Ability to work inclusively with a diverse group of people.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
Manage a caseload of volunteer adults (Bigs) and youth (Littles) who have been paired in a mentoring relationship. Through regular support calls, continually assess the match relationship focusing on child safety, match relationship development, positive youth development and volunteer and family satisfaction. Identify, address and resolve existing and/or potential match challenges through regular coaching conversations and in-person meetings. Ensure a high level of proficiency and skill in applying child safety and risk management knowledge, policies and procedures throughout all aspects of job function. Identify child safety issues for volunteers, children and their families. Create innovative activities to support youth development, social emotional growth, and academic success while improving relationships and reducing risky behavior.
