Education Specialist and Assistant Director About Inwood Community Services (ICS) Inwood Community Services is a community-based organization that provides a wide range of services, including job placement, youth development, and community outreach. ICS is dedicated to inspiring, transforming, and empowering individuals of all ages. The organization is responsive to the needs of diverse populations and implements programs that support positive outcomes for individuals and communities. Position Summary The Instructor reports directly to the Education Specialist and Assistant Director and is responsible for creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for youth enrolled in the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). Instructors will facilitate a six-week, project-based learning experience during July and August, using ICS's educational and work-readiness curriculum to help participants build essential skills. This role includes delivering synchronous instruction to a cohort of at least 25 participants, while consistently tracking attendance, engagement, and progress throughout the program. Primary Responsibilities (including but not limited to) Participate in pre-program training and mid-summer professional development Plan and facilitate a meaningful, student-centered learning experience throughout the program Lead instruction and supervise participants via Zoom, Google Classroom, and in-person sessions Implement project-based curriculum with a balance of facilitation, presentation, and interactive activities Provide clear instructions for assignments, projects, and learning objectives Supervise youth during in-person activities, including trips and community events, as assigned Foster teamwork and encourage group participation Track and document attendance, participation, and project completion in accordance with ICS and DYCD guidelines Support participants in developing work-readiness skills and exploring career interests Conduct surveys to assess participant interests, needs, and concerns Provide regular updates to the Education Specialist Participate in end-of-program evaluations and debrief sessions Attend SYEP team meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions (virtual and in-person as required) Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds Proficiency in remote learning tools, including Zoom, Google Meet, Google Classroom, and general internet use Reliable access to high-speed internet Strong adaptability and the ability to meet the varying needs of participants Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines while contributing to a team environment Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills Availability for the full six-week program
