We work with adults, children, and families to increase communication and social skills, improve relationships, increase circles of support, and provide therapeutic services based on best-practice research. Ridge Street provides a warm and secure home for female adolescents, ages 13-18, who are working through mental health and behavioral challenges. Our residential program is designed to provide the structure, care, and community support needed to help young women grow, heal, and thrive. We focus on creating an environment that feels like a home, where youth can build important life skills, improve their mental health, and form positive connections with others. NAFI Rhode Island is exploring candidates for Youth Counselors for our adolescent group home in Pawtucket, RI. Youth Counselors provide direct oversight and supervision of residents in the milieu. Ideal candidates are eager to engage and interact with the teens in the program and act as role models and caring adults to residents.
Responsibilities Include:
Ensuring the comprehensive fulfilment of residents' physical and emotional needs Facilitating problem solving among residents and nurturing peer relationships Organizing and orchestrating special activities and projects tailored for the youth Stimulating engagement among teenagers through pro-social and constructive activities Diligently observing and meticulously documenting youth activities Executing the daily schedule with precision and adaptability Offering adept de-escalation and crisis intervention support when necessary Actively participating in the scheduled staff meetings
