JOB TITLE
Youth Mentor (Summer)
JOB SUMMARY
Youth Mentors work directly with young adults ages 13 and up, both in-house and in the community. Youth Mentors are responsible for creating positive relationships with student participants and maintaining structure in a group setting. Youth Mentors help students learn, explore and have fun during programming. Programming includes daily living skills, health and wellness topics, career exploration and development, and fun community events and activities.

Youth Services Director
SCHEDULE
Monday-Friday from approximately 8:00am to 4:00pm. Program dates are June 8th through August 28th, with staff training on June 3rd-5th, 2026. There is the potential for ongoing, part-time work during the 2026-2027 school year.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain awareness of students' interests, strengths, and needs to provide appropriate services.
  • Plan and participate in activities with the students in-house and out in the community.
  • Redirect students when they exhibit inappropriate behaviors and provide positive and constructive feedback.
  • Transport and accompany students to activities in company vehicles.
  • Maintain good verbal and written communication to ensure all involved parties are kept up-to-date and informed of any changes necessary relating to students.
  • Model soft skills such as communication, conflict resolution, creativity, problem solving, and teamwork.
  • Generate interest and familiarity with the community through supported experiences and engagement.
  • Provide support and supervision in various levels for 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 and 1:4 group sizes.
  • May need to provide assistance with personal cares as defined by the student's plan.
  • Respond to emergency situations promptly and administer First Aid or CPR/AED if needed.
  • Report all accidents/injuries along with filling out reports within 24 hours.
  • Promote and maintain confidentiality of students at all times.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management Additional Responsibilities (expected of all staff)
  • Attend meetings as directed.
  • Carry out special assignments when assigned.
  • Conduct oneself as a mature, responsible role model.
  • Maintain a friendly and positive attitude throughout the day.
  • Assist students in matters of social/work etiquette and cleanliness.
  • Report all signs of illness, injury, or unusual behavior to Youth Services Director.
  • Work cooperatively with all staff towards maintaining quality services for all students.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES PREFERRED
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR and AED (will be provided if not currently certified)
  • Valid Driver's License
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma. Associate or undergraduate degree in related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities and/or adolescents is a plus.
  • Knowledge of physical and mental impairments which affect a student's ability to be independent, productive and socially appropriate.
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate effective problem-solving skills.
  • Must be creative, community-minded and energized by a highly diverse and collaborative environment.
  • Ability to be adaptable in new situations and flexible in approach.
  • Ability to correct and redirect students tactfully and positively.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must understand that serving others is an important component of this position.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Youth Mentors engage in a variety of physical activities with students. The employee should be able to stoop, kneel, bend, twist and reach on a daily basis, be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and be able to travel to and from multiple locations.
Pay:
$17.00 per hour
