JOB TITLE
Social Worker/Social Services AdvisorIMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR
School Principals SUMMARY:
South Central Community School Corporation is looking for a compassionate, dedicated school social worker/social services advisor to assist in addressing the psychological and social well-being of our students. The school social worker / social services advisor's responsibilities include providing information to students, parents, and school staff, counseling students with personal and psychological issues, and addressing relevant issues in the school, such as school attendance, illegal drugs, teen pregnancy, and social adjustment issues. The school social worker/social services advisor will work with students in one-on-one, classroom, or school-wide sessions. The ideal candidate should be dedicated to assisting our students, compassionate, and caring. They should also have a working knowledge of outside services (locally), such as shelters, food banks, and medical care.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Social Work or Education. A license and certification to provide social work (or teacher's license) in the State of Indiana is also required. Experience in school-based social work/school counseling is a plus.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Will include the following: Mental Health Counseling for students. Counsel students with personal and psychological issues that affect their performance, behavior, and socialization in school. Provide counseling sessions, treatment plans, or workshops as necessary, and establish prevention programs and intervention plans. Communicate with students, parents, and families to determine the areas in which they may need assistance or counseling. Assist teachers and administrators with behavioral and attitude issues by communicating with students to find the causes of their distress. Provide information, when appropriate, to outside support services to help students with economic, emotional, or physical issues. Coordinate and assist the Teacher of Record for at-risk students or students with disabilities, pertaining to recommended services that may be applicable. Communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators to understand students' challenges. Maintain case files and reports to track students' progress and problems. Help students and families suffering from abuse, violence, hunger, or homelessness to access resources like shelters, food banks, and medical care. Work cooperatively with the Administrative Team to carry out an efficiently operated guidance and counseling program. Collaborate with the teaching staff to provide appropriate services for all pupils in the school. Collect and interpret appropriate data to inform the school corporation of trends and associated future needs. Other duties as assigned.LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of teachers, parents, children, and the general public.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts as well as the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

THISIS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION.
