Exempt Position Overview:
The Sourcing and Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day execution of sourcing and purchasing strategies while ensuring alignment with enterprise supply chain objectives. This role serves as the primary integrator between sourcing strategy and purchasing execution, with accountability for cost optimization, supplier performance, risk management, inventory availability, and team leadership across multiple functions. The position partners closely with Operations, Finance, Production Scheduling, and external suppliers to ensure reliable supply, cost control, and continuous improvement. This role translates strategic direction set by the Director of Supply Chain into actionable plans, metrics, and results across the Sourcing and Purchasing teams.
Key Accountabilities:
Lead Sourcing & Purchasing Execution Oversee day-to-day execution of sourcing strategies, purchasing activities, and materials planning. Ensure contract compliance, cost controls, risk mitigation, and alignment with approved commodity strategies ensure business continuity and governance of supply chain programs Maintain continuity of supply to support manufacturing and business requirements. Provide supplier oversight to ensure production facilities are supported through execution of new product introduction or change management initiatives for all materials and services. Actively participate in the SIOP process to align sourcing, purchasing, and materials strategies with demand, supply constraints, and inventory targets. Manage and develop leadership staff Lead, coach, and develop sourcing and purchasing teams. Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and accountability for results. Promote strong collaboration and alignment between sourcing and materials functions. Supply Base Drive supplier performance, delivering annual cost savings and cost avoidance through negotiations, strategic sourcing and demand alignment. Track, validate, and report cost savings and cost avoidance in partnership with Finance, ensuring alignment with enterprise financial goals. Ensure material availability across facilities while minimizing expedites and premium freight. Partner with Operations, Production Scheduling, and Finance on service and inventory trade-offs. Process Ownership & Continuous Improvement Own and continuously improve sourcing, purchasing, and materials management processes. Ensure efficiency, compliance, and scalability of purchasing and materials workflows. Support supplier metrics, analytics, and reporting to enable data-driven decisions. Support SIOP-related analytics, scenario planning, and reporting to improve visibility to demand variability, supply risk, inventory exposure, and financial impact. Cross-Functional & Strategic Support Support strategic sourcing initiatives and cross-functional supply chain projects. Support enterprise SIOP and cross-functional supply chain initiatives by providing sourcing, purchasing, and supplier insights related to capacity, cost, lead time, and risk. Provide input and execution support for new product introductions and supplier transitions. Escalate risks, constraints, and opportunities to the Director, Supply Chain as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business, or related field. 3years of experience in procurement, sourcing, materials management, or supply chain. 3 years of experience leading managers or supervisors. Strong working knowledge of contracts, negotiations, Incoterms, and the Uniform Commercial Code. Demonstrated experience balancing cost, service, and inventory objectives across multiple stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in business or related field. Supply Chain certification (CPIM, CPM, APICS, or similar). 10+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or materials management. Experience in multi-site manufacturing environments. Knowledge and experience with ERP systems such as Oracle and/or SAP.
Physical Setting:
Hybrid position with primary work performed remotely or at Headquarters, with periodic travel to Headquarters, manufacturing plants, and supplier locations as needed to support business and operational priorities. Up to 10% travel required.
