Job Description
Aquitaine Chestnut Hill is a Parisian inspired French bistro celebrating 26 years of hospitality and great Cuisine at "the Street" lifestyle center in the heart of Chestnut Hill and Newton. Aquitaine Chestnut Hill offers an authentic French dining experience. Executive Chef/Owner Seth Woods has forged a path in the Boston restaurant scene for innovative, yet traditional French cuisine. Aquitaine's ambiance echoes the cutting-edge sophistication of a modern Parisian Bistro. We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Chef de Cuisine to oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen and ensure the highest standards of food preparation and presentation.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Chef de Cuisine in menu planning, recipe development, and creating innovative dishes.
- Oversee and participate in the preparation, cooking, and plating of food items.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to proper techniques and sanitation standards.
- Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in working order.
- Collaborate with the front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control to maintain consistency.
- Assist in the development and implementation of food safety and hygiene protocols.
- Stay updated with industry trends and new culinary techniques.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Attention to detail and a passion for creating exceptional dishes.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education and Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Culinary school diploma or degree is preferred.
- Certification in food safety and allergen .
