Job Description
Description Belstra Group Farms is a pig production organization with over 20 swine farm facilities located in Northwest Indiana. Belstra is in search of individuals to fill full-time Sow Farm Associate positions. Belstra Group Farms is committed to producing the highest quality of pigs. This individual is responsible for the daily care, health, and maintenance of all animals at the designated farm. The individual member must work in compliance with all the company policies, local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations. Job Duties and Responsibilities (included but not limited to): Monitor manure containment systems (pits, lagoons, composters, impoundments) Conduct manure and wastewater testing Track manure volumes, storage levels, and seasonal impacts Coordinate manure application timing, rates, and pricing with licensed applicators Maintain nutrient application records for permitted farms Build relationships with crop farmers, agronomists, fertilizer companies, and applicators Support regulatory compliance and participate in bi-annual inspections with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and the Illinois Department of Agriculture Requirements Skills and Requirements (included but not limited to): Associate's degree or higher in agronomy, soil science, crop science, or related field Minimum 2 years of experience in nutrient management (manure or fertilizer) Strong record-keeping and analytical skills Willingness to manage heavier workloads during spring and fall
Physical Demands:
Stand, walk, and be on your feet 8 to 10 hours per day. Frequently bend, reach, squat, and kneel. Frequently use one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull. (Employee uses power washer with 3000 psi force and 5 gallons per minute flow.) Frequently lift objects weighing 3 to 20 pounds. Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds, or requiring up to 50 pounds of force to move. Work in different environments (dust, heat, cold)Education and Experience:
