Job Description

HudsonWay Immersion School (HWIS) is a progressive pre-K through Grade 8 Mandarin and Spanish Immersion School founded 20 years ago in the NJ/NY area. The school's mission is to prepare students with the knowledge, skills and character to become global contributors and citizens of the world. Students perform well above average and are accepted at top tier independent schools. The HudsonWay Immersion School New Jersey Campus is seeking two ECE - 2's and 3's Spanish teacher for the next school year 2026-27.( session starts in Fall 2026) Major responsibilities: Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the time designated. Plans a program of study that meets the needs of students i.e. differentiates instruction for children of different linguistic, cultural and academic backgrounds, as well as preparedness, readiness and interests. Creates a safe and welcoming classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students. Employs a variety of instructional strategies, inclusive of immersion techniques, and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Strives to implement by instruction and action HWIS' philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. Assesses the accomplishments, including linguistic benchmarks in the target language, of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Other responsibilities:
Maintains accurate and correct records as required by law, school policy and administrative regulations. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence. Attends professional development, curriculum development sessions and staff meetings and serves on committees as required.
