Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in students' lives as a special education teacher for a contract opportunity in a welcoming district near Portland, CT. This long-term assignment offers a chance to work closely with students requiring individualized instruction, creating an inclusive atmosphere and fostering growth both academically and personally.
Key Qualifications:
Valid certification in Special Education. Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Strong knowledge of instructional strategies for diverse learning needs. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Ability to foster positive relationships with students, families, and staff. Prior experience in a school special education setting is highly desirable.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support students with disabilities by adapting lessons to meet their educational needs. Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and other specialists to ensure student success. Create and maintain a safe, organized, and encouraging classroom environment. Monitor students' progress and regularly update IEP goals. Communicate proactively with parents/guardians about student progress and goals. Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training.
