Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make an impact working with young learners as a Special Education Teacher for an elementary setting, focusing on students in kindergarten through second grade. This in-person contract position supports approximately 20 students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD). The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through June 13th, 2026. Your expertise will help shape positive educational outcomes for students at a crucial stage in their development. You'll work closely with other educators and support staff to provide a nurturing, structured environment tailored to individual needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Maine certification for teaching elementary age groups (K-2) Endorsement or demonstrated experience in Special Education Familiarity with interventions and strategies for students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) Passion for working with young children and a commitment to inclusion Strong organizational and communication abilities Experience managing classrooms or small groups, ideally at the elementary level
Key Responsibilities:
